Window channel rubber Empty Window channel rubber

Post by bugeye bob Mon Aug 15, 2016 5:23 pm

just received my rubber door gaskets ( around the doors ) for my A and now looking to replace the rotted out the front doors window channel rubber on the outside of the glass, my question if anyone can help is that it looks like they were welded on - i was thinking when i was messing with them that they were clipped into place. so how do i replace them as not much clearance - do i have to remove or at least drop the door glass ?

It's a p.i.t.a., but you do have to drop the door glass.

Yeah, you do need to take the vent window loose and move the window to get to the window run weatherstrip. I would also get the front piece that goes into the rear of the vent window frame. Really,,,,,, it would be nice to do the vent windows, the runs and the wipers on the door since you have to take things apart to get in there anyway. Would make the doors nice and tight also.
