Post by steelrat Fri May 06, 2016 10:36 am

    Hi,
For my 1965 Mercury econoline supervan. Do I need Heavy duty brake shoes? How do I assess what size shoes? Parts shop has 1 size for front which are larger than rear. .2 sizes for rear.
    are these the right ones?

    Hope someone can assist.
    Thanks
    Shaun

A lot depends on what you have. Basically, Trucks with a nine inch rear axle use the 2.5 inch brakes all around, Those with 7 inch or 7.25 rear axles use 1.75 inch rear brakes and 2.5 fronts.
