After uncovering severe wiring issues with my 66 Falcon Travel Wagon I have come to the realization in order to repair things properly and rebuild it into the adventure mobile I have envisioned, it will be a long term project. Unfortunately from stripping, blasting, primer, paint, re-wire, etc I probably won't be back on the road anytime soon.
Soooooo.. Having the itch to get back cruisin' in the meantime, last night I purchased this beauty!
Its a 1961 Falcon Van in original condition except for the aftermarket fuel tank and the "Raptor Liner" on the interior floor. I don't have experience with it but it seemed very similar to Rhino or Line-X. The seats have also been re-upholstered. New clutch, exhaust and brakes/lines. It has a running 170ci with 3-speed. Seems pretty unmolested and solid. It also has cool petina in my opinion. From what I understand it has been garaged most of its life.
Other then swapping out replacement parts to ensure reliability there shouldn't be much to do.. (fingers crossed!). If all goes as planned I will clean the body up, keep the petina look then drop a clear coat on top to preserve it. I will probably have the underside blasted and coated just to seal things up. The headlight grills need to go back to the chrome look and the jury is still out on the black bumpers?
Here are a few pics.. Sorry they aren't the best. The flash makes the underside look worse then it really is. Will post many more pics once its in my garage. The van is located about 2hrs away so I will actually go back out to pick it up within the next week.
Does anyone know if the two rear seats are original to the 1961 Falcon model?
