    I have a 1970 A100 pickup, it had this 150 pound chunk of cast iron behind the gastank. Do most a100's have this or is this a pickup item? I am familiar with the econoline and chevy van counterweights, but this is something I don't know about the A's.

    Was that under the gas tank or behind it?

    It looks pretty factory to me! I think there's another thread somewhere that mentions these things......

    standard equipement. it's a counter weight between the gas tank and rear body panel. only seen them in the a-100 pickups not the vans at least the 8 or 9 vans that i owned.

    yes its standard equipment dont remove it!!! its to keep the rearend firmly planted during a panic stop.
