    200 Swap (E100 Pickup) Empty 200 Swap (E100 Pickup)

    Hello All...Newbie here.  Recently purchased a '62 E100 Pickup!

While I am excited, the vehicle is not without its issues.  The former owner linked up a 289 with a c4 trans and 9" rear end.  The downside is he never properly reinforced the "setup."  Although he only drove it a limited amount, there is some sheet metal fatigue.

So I am pulling the engine and replacing it with a 200 IL from a '67 mustang.  It also has a c4 trans.

I have read through varous threads, specific to this swap, yet believe not all situations are excatly the same.  I am hoping someone can provide insight into the type of mounts, hangers, and any other issues or items I need to consider/order with this present setup.

Thank you in advance for any support!

Welcome to VV, I put a 289 in my 66 Falcon and would not go back to a 6. You need a real crossmember for an engine mount. Old school Vic will have what you need. Autos did not happen until 64. A car Trans. from a Mustang should not work or be used because of drive shaft issues. But without more info you have an odd combo.

    Thanks Scarlin.

The 289 is questiuonable at best so I am going to stick with the 200 IL.

Am understanding you correctly that since I have a '62, I will need a cross member for the motor mounts using a 200 IL? If so, then you suggest contacting Old School Vic?

If I am not "getting it" please direct as you see fit....thanks!

65 to 67 all used the better engine mounts. 144 to 200 can use the 61 to 64 with the engine hangers, where are your cracks? Drive it nice if you keep them.
I'm not an Econo Guru pre 65. Any 61-63 has auto issues with the drive train V8 or I6

Yeah, they didn't come out with auto econo's until 64 and had a special "fix" to do it with special a/t only hangers that dropped the engine down and a 64 only c4 hanger trans casing. How is the transmission currently supported? If it is a a hanger style case, you may just need a bell and to find the 64 hangers or modify yours. Vic LaFontaine (Old Skool) is the guy you need to talk with. If you do a diligent search on the forum you will find his phone # and email
