Removing front Doghouse panel Empty Removing front Doghouse panel

Post by Vantucky Tue Sep 29, 2015 9:33 am

    Hey all,

Trying to remove my doghouse to clean the van and do some floor repairs.
I've got the other 4 doghouse panels out of the way and the front panel just wants to stick around.

I was looking through the service manual and it pointed that the bolts on the floor were all that is holding it in, but it looks like it is tacked to the shroud around the radiator? Is this normal or did someone really do something really weird? maybe to reduce vibration or something.

So to remove the shroud some of the engine wiring will have to be undone and it will have to be unbolted from the radiator, and the bolts look pretty unreachable without the front doghouse panel out of the way. What the heck? Am i just really not seeing something?

    Frustrated... Mad

Emergency brake bracket need to be unbolted there are two bolts to the doghouse, there are a couple bolts attaching the lower right and left splash panels to the radiator mounting frame, the harness is held by two plastic straps, I pulled the radiator before removing the front panel, it comes out the bottom, but I suspect you can drain, remove the hoses and take the radiator out with the front panel from the top. Hope I got it all, it has been a couple years and I was stripping the doghouse off for a /6 to V8 conversion so really did not pay much attention.

busman78- I already have the emergency brake bracket undone as well as the 4 splash panel bolts;those made my radiator loose...
It appears that splash panel is spot welded to the shroud and to the front doghouse. My question is, is this normal or is this weird?
I was browsing through some pictures of other peoples doghouses- RodStRace had some good pics of his, it didn't have any of the shroud pieces attached.
I also kind of want to avoid undoing the throttle linkage and the wiring harness for now... Maybe i will try and get a picture up tomorrow.

Normal is the lower splash guards are welded to the frame in a couple spots but not to the radiator frame. Not sure if the shift linkage, accelerator cable and EM cable pass through the radiator frame for mine is now modified (FSR Tug Radiator) and the left splash guard all but gone in order to fit a later model Mopar Aluminum master cyclinder and proportioning valve.

Look at the bottom of the last picture there is a bracket that it bolts to. Drop the belly pan to get a better view and to remove the bottom bolts. Good luck.

    Turns out:
    Disconnect 3 splash plans.
    Disconnect radiator shroud, 4 bolts.
    Prop up radiator
    Remove a couple more bolts.
Remove wiring harness at back of engine.
    Remove throttle linkage.
Cuss a little and the bastard is off.
    Cheers

    Hi !
Has anybody an idea, where I can get the clambs that hold the doghouse-Panels to the ground?
There are at least two for each side an two or four for the back!
