Fiero Seats, again Empty Fiero Seats, again

Post by Guest Sat Apr 25, 2009 8:47 pm

i've read plenty of threads on this site recommending fiero seats. does anyone have a set of earlier fiero seats in their van with the factory headrest speakers functioning? or even another set mounted in the seats (i've seen this on other fiero seat sites) i'm looking for a yay or nay, because there's no way i'll be cutting any sheet metal in the van to mount speakers, this could actually be the best way to get a set of rear channels in my '67 panel.

I ve got a set of the seats with speakers in them but havent installed them yet. I think they are best for pickup applications since vans have other places to put speakers, like in the side panels if you finish off the interior. I hate cutting a door up for a speaker myself so the fiero seats are a solution to that in a pickup. Gary Mitch has a nice setup in his van. He used small home theatre type speakers already in boxes in his van and they mount just about anywhere you want them to.
Fritz from Canada with the Econo Route 66 van has a very nice overhead console in his where he has speakers mounted. Perhaps this would be a good thread to have pics posted of in the gallery, shots of any places people put speakers in their rides.
A set of 6 x 9's in or on the rear doors works well if you like tailgate partying. Just pop the doors open and start jammin!

So do MR2 seats but it's tight if you upholster the doors.

I plan to mount rear speakers in the back of the van too, and not put too much power through the headrest speakers... a subtle backfill application from the seats. So my rear channels will have three speakers each.

It think the fiero seats are awesome I just couldn't find a set (except one pair that were so bad they were worthless) So I went with miata seats (they are very available) and after some drive time found them to be great. You can find them in great shape and have to do no work on them before install. Miata seats are also available with headrest speakers. You can also buy a kit from Mazda and a few aftermarket manufacturers to install speakers in the headrests. The foam for the headrest section is seperate from the rest of the seat and is easily removed so you can install the foam that is cut out for the speakers. The Fiero seats have a one peice molded foam that encases the seat frame. To add the speakers you have to cut the foam carefully as it is all that holds the speakers in place.

olds has been hurting for a long time. at least its apparent here in mt. all you see are run down late 80s to mid 90s four door cutlass cieras with mismatched hubcaps and duct tape windows cruising trailer parks, caked in road grime. long live american iron, don't get me wrong. but olds has been directionless since the muscle era.
