I prefer to snap, not glue the gasket on,,,,,,,and to put it on the sharp edges of the bottom part,,,,,,and to pay $5 at Pik a Part,,,,,,,,but you really need a fan on the bellypan with a ceiling fan timer to blow air up towards the radiator to get rid of the fumes, cool the radiator and doghouse and you, down,,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: doghouse lid sponge seal
I have the S10 gasket on my A100 doghouse. When I first put it on, the lid did not want to close at all. Made some cut outs and removed the rear portion and it's still too tight, but at least it closes.

It looks like an awesome idea when you first get it on there.

At some point in my A100 pickup's life. Somebody cut the rear of the doghouse/ front of the bed, and installed a 12"X12" vent. Think of a louvered house vent from Lowes. So the heat is always flowing out the back of the doghouse.. this would not work for a van. But on a pickup, it sure can't hurt any.

My buddy has a 67 Ford Van, and that thing would not cool down until he finally put a fan under it to suck the air out of the doghouse,,,,,,,,the clue was, the van would run cooler with the doghouse open,,,,,air just dont be able to flow through a Ford Doghouse,,,,,,,

Re: doghouse lid sponge seal
i know someone who welded rectangular duct from the front of their Chevy van running on the floor between passenger and driver from front of vehicle to the doghouse. To bring in air from the front of the van to the radiator. If that makes sensedonivan65 wrote:My buddy has a 67 Ford Van, and that thing would not cool down until he finally put a fan under it to suck the air out of the doghouse,,,,,,,,the clue was, the van would run cooler with the doghouse open,,,,,air just dont be able to flow through a Ford Doghouse,,,,,,,

Re: doghouse lid sponge seal
Unlike our 1st Gen Dodges, Fords, and Chevys that have a flat floor and a grille that does not even go to the radiator, the 2nd Gen 1967-70 Chevy Vans have a built up floor tunnel that actually uses air from the grille,,,,,,,the 1st Gens depend on the air that is scooped up off the road from the bellypan.......but Fords seem to get like vapor locked because the air cant escape fast enough to really let the heat be carried away fast enough,,,,,,,,the air cant go anywhere,,,,,,
