Well talk about a surprise! After 61 months and counting I finally have what appears to be a pretty decent set of reproduction vent window seals in my possession. I had pretty much given up on this ever becoming reality after all the excuses. They did not return my NOS seal to compare it to though. When I get time I'll install one and see how it fits.

I think he's talking about the triangle piece. Anyhow, pretty cool to get that project rolling (well, stop and go I guess)

It's the seal between the vent window metal frame and the door itself.

Do you know where I could get the seal between the glass and the frame? Or does anyone know for that matter?

Hey ramian09, sorry to jump in the thread but I recognize your van from your avatar. Met you last summer just south of the Peace Arch border in WA... Hope you guys had a good trip back! I might need those same seals as well.

....by any chance, were you working with Restoration Specialties in Pa.?
I forget the man who I spoke to but he told me he would have something. That was over a year and a half ago. I have not checked with them lately.

Yes I am. I'm sure you talked to Dave. He means well but is very slow at getting things done.

seal between glass and frame
I went to an auto glass place that specialized in antique autos, and they sold me a roll 1/16" thick X 1.5" wide X 3' long. Macs has that in their microsite 1948-79 pickup: part# A45963X

Re: vent window seal
I finally got time today to install the new vent window seal and it appears to be a go. The install in the vent frame was fairly simple and the fit seemed good. The window opened and closed easily, unlike Carpenter's seal which is extremely hard to get the window to close. I installed the window and frame assembly into a stripped down door I have and the seal fit over the door edges good. There have been issues with the Carpenter's seals edge lip falling down into the door exposing the door edge when installed. It doesn't appear that will be an issue with the new seal either. I'll be calling my contact tomorrow to give him my thumbs up and approval. Hopefully they will start production of them very soon.
