Re: 1966 Sportvan in Illinois
Yeah, welcome, looks to be in good starting point shape! Rocker repair isn't too bad, there is a company that still makes the repairs panels for these vans, check out Mill Supply, I think is the name, but a good body man can fabricate that area easy. Anything else you need or have questions about, its all here. Best to make a huge list of everything you think it needs starting with the mechanicals, brakes and engine and so on, then the cosmetics, trim, and electrical, etc. and prioritize what needs top be done and go from there! Plus there is always the unforeseen stuff previous owners (called PO's) that have been done over the last 50 years to deal with and correct....but the rewards are worth all the hassle! Welcome to it! Looks like you have two sought after rare accessories on there already, the "swan" neck factory mirrors and a factory antenna! Most vans have the three holes but are always missing those mirrors! Its a '66, has the extra grill slot added for better cooling, a '66 should have backup lights too. What motor is in it?, should be a 194 or a 230? hard to tell apart but there are ways, find the casting number on the side of the block below the distributor and over the starter and google it for tables....

Welcome to VV. Nice looking van to start with. As stated already, ask questions, and you will get lots of answers. The 'Search" button is a helpful tool as well and can find lots of threads to discussions already in progress about many topics. Good luck and keep those pics coming as you move forward on your van.

Re: 1966 Sportvan in Illinois
Thanks for the welcome! I was not aware of the mirrors, they are in pretty bad shape. According to the inliners site I have the 230ci. The van also has the heavier front spring, not sure how common that was. As for the rockers, they are GONE, going to be a major project. Nothing works now, pulling the motor just as soon as we can. I'll be sure to keep posting when appropriate.
Thanks again, Bill

Welcome! Great guys on here that are super helpful.
Would love to see interior shots, even if not pretty.
My two cents: Add disk brake upgrades to your front end. These bricks do not stop easily..
Member M1D provides custom brackets and information afterwards on how to install them.
