Just received my horn ring and it has a three way crack along one side area where the spoke meets the ring as well as some other smaller cracks as shown.
I'm not posting this to bust the balls of the seller, I just want advice on how to keep this intact other than flat out not using it.
I may have it re-chromed but I would like to do something to secure it and may not invest money in chroming if it won't last. I was already thinking it would be more ornamental than functional.
Is there any product that I could apply to the back side of the cracks to keep it secure or strengthen that area? I know it can't be chromed over certain products added to strengthen it. Would re-chroming help with strengthening? Looking for a clean remedy that can't be detected from the front.
JB Weld?
(By the way for those who haven't seen one, the GMC horn button is much nicer than the plastic Chevy horn button. Not sure if my Chevy is not original or if all were made that way.)
It's so nice, I might just keep it even though it's GMC and not Chevy.
This is pitted but not nearly as bad as the photos indicate. It would look nice installed and some of the pits will clean off with steel wool.
