Does anyone have a part # for the connector on the back of the ignition switch on a 1st gen? I struck out today at 2 parts stores. I suggested looking for 1 for a 60s truck and they found the switch but no connector.

Re: ignition switch connector
I need help the first gen wiring diagram and the the wiring harness in my van don't match. Someone has done some rewiring and I missed taking a picture and labeling the wire in question. The neutral safety switch on the wiring diagram shows purple for both wires one going to the starter the other going to the ignition switch after being joined with the other purple wire coming from the starter. My harness has dark green and light green wires the light green going to the fuse block and the dark green joining a black wire to a single connection and the black wire going to another single connection. Is that as clear as mud?

I have a picture of the black and dark green wires up around the ignition switch. But I have no idea where or what they connect to.

Re: ignition switch connector
so whats the problem,,,,,,something dont work? is that a REAL 1st Gen ignition switch? the purple wire goes from the starter terminal on the ignition switch,,,,through the connector by the carburetor,,,,,then to the S terminal on the starter solenoid to crank the starter,,,,,,unless you got an automatic, then the wire goes to the safety neutral switch then to the solenoid,,,then, of course, when the wiring goes bad, they put some kind of starter button on it to get the starter to crank,,,,,,

Re: ignition switch connector
The purple wire goes directly to the solenoid. And no I don't believe I have an original ignition switch. The neutral safety switch was not plugged in but the dark green and light green wires that go to that connector look stock.

Re: ignition switch connector
Mine doesn't have the connector, long gone, just use heavy spade terminals on the wires and put them in the right place, works fine, you don't need the connector.

Re: ignition switch connector
Yeah that's the way I wired my ignition switch. That problem is from an almost 2 month old post. I just continued it because it's a wiring problem. I was hoping someone had seen this problem or knew what is going on with my neutral safety switch.
