Yes those gaskets are a pain. I clean the new rubber with isopropal alcohaul and put them on the sheet metal then I lightley lube the hinge with a silicone grease like Dow Corning "DC 4". That helps. Some of them will never fit perfect and thats fine because I am going for the factory look and well little to nothing was perfect when these vans came out of the factory.

I have to get it drivable so I could get it safety checked and lisenced into my name before I started anything. Then I tor it all apart and started the body work.

rustproof the vergin steel in the door bottoms, frame rails and rocker pannels.
the wet look is the Dinatrol AV-8 corrosion proofing I used. cleans off with varsol, drys to a waxy shellack like coat after 24 hours of flowing and penatraiting the seams.
as I recieved it, 47 years in the cold dry dessert. now thats as clean as one will ever find.

I/m close to getting 65 sportvan paint job started ,main body work should be just few dents in doors , on memorial day .. butternut w/ window stripe as black .
