Unless you have some type of custom steering system. Your 69 a100 would have come from the factory with a manual worm gear steering box (not a rack and pinion)... A power assist was an option, for the manual steering box (kind of rare).

A while back, someone here bought a rebuilt steering box from a rebuilder company. It was not cheap/ but they had what the guy needed. Maybe somebody will chime in , with some info about the rebuilt steering gear box. Or search for rebuilt steering box.

I had my steering box rebuilt about a month ago. As said, it's not cheap, it cost me $495, but these vehicles are getting scarce and parts will dry up. You''ll need to send your unit in, about 2 weeks turn around. The name of the place is Steer & Gear, located in Ohio. Their phone is 800-253-4327. Great shop to work with, been around for 30-35 years.

Is your assist ram missing or leaking?
