Dash Pad options for 2nd Gen G10?
Anyone know if any other Chevys used the same dash pads as a 2nd gen van? The C10 dash pad looks pretty similar.

You could recover an old one or fabricate a reasonable looking pad from wood covered with a thin layer of foam and vinyl fabric (Naugahyde). Shape some pine and use a staple gun for the covering, would look real sharp if you do it right. Even a nice finished wood one would look good depending on your interior decor....better than all those holes in the dash! I have seen many custom made pads over the years....

I made mine with fiberglass, I wanted to cover the center speaker hole and use two speakers in the front so I went all the the way to the windshield. Really wasn't to difficult to make. To make a stock looking one would be a lot easier than what I did. I covered the whole dash with tinfoil, ran a strip of oak across the front, added some studs for mounting and started slapping glass. If your planning to add foam and vinyl, it would be easy to make a fiberglass shell/pan to get upholstered doing it this way.

That pad looks fantastic Mo! I'm fairly crafty so I think I should be able to pull this off. Thanks for the pointers.
Does anyone have any pictures of an original 2nd gen dash pad uninstalled?

Thanks for the pics, very helpful! So the inside is soft and the exterior is hard? I always imagined the exterior would be slightly soft padding with a vinyl cover. And does the exterior have a leather texture?

Re: Dash Pad options for 2nd Gen G10?
No, I believe panelmanrd meant that the original 67/70 dash pads are the only dash pads that will work on the 67/70 G-Vans. So the C10 dash pad is a no-go.

Re: Dash Pad options for 2nd Gen G10?
That is correct, the only dash pad that will fit a 2nd gen chevy/gmc van, is one from a 2nd gen chevy/gmc van. 1967-70 only

Re: Dash Pad options for 2nd Gen G10?
Like shown, you should be able to make one, try to make a shaped wood core and then cover it with a thin layer of foam padding and then naugahyde vinyl, they sell it at most good fabric shops in many colors and grains, use a staple gun, be creative! They sell small studs with a lag screw on one end that should work for the mounting bolts.

Re: Dash Pad options for 2nd Gen G10?
I thought I looked at them... Do they do custom dashes? I don't see G-10 Vans on their list of dashes they sell. Am I missing something?
