    took my steering wheel off to replace turn signal assembly but when I try to put it back on the horn relay sounds and after putting it on if I turn it back an forth the relay sounds to the horn doesn't go off just a low rumble

    Take everything under the horn button off except the nut,,,,,,,,see if your problem goes away,,,,,,jump the horn brush contact to the nut,,,,,,,that should energize the horn relay which will turn on the horn,,,,,,see what you get......

    so whats the complaint,,,,,,horn don't work ,,,,horn don't sound right,,,,,horn works when it shouldn't,,,,,

    horn must be broke I will get a replacement and try that all it does is click an I solved the problem of it clicking all the time by cleaning the parts

    stick a paperclip in the horn relay socket to see if the horn works to eliminate the relay or wiring being bad......

    about a week ago my neighbors told me my horn went off for about 15 minutes at 4 in the morning an then died

    just don't be pushing the horn button when you stick a paper clip in the socket where the relay goes,,,,horn should blow when you find the 2 correct slots to jump across.....

    If the horn blasted for 15 mins, probably overheated inside and damaged coil, but at almost 50 years old it was probably on its way out....relay is in back of engine box on these things!

    second gens have a slightly different electrical
    the turn signal switch, and the horn relay is different
    and located under dash instead of in doghouse
    turn signal switch has emergency flasher built in
