1978 GMC Vandura Empty 1978 GMC Vandura

    Post by rascal4now Fri Oct 10, 2014 7:09 pm

Hello all. Stumbled across this forum. Hoping to share and maybe get ideas and advice on my old girl.
Friends of mine had an old camper van sitting in their field. I bought it and drug her out. I use it now for camping and fishing. She only has 59 thousand original miles on her!!! So much fun to drive! I have all the original furnace, fridge etc paperwork for her so if anyone would like information I will gladly share.

I do have a question; does anyone know where the heck the wind shield washer motor is? Wiper motor is under dash. Washer pump is not in reservoir. No idea where it is. Any help is appreciated

Thank you. I did try following the hose and looked on the wiper motor but it's H getting under there. It would help if I could get a picture at least of what the pump even looks like. I'll try again. Trouble is, the seat doesn't adjust too much so mighty tight under there

Most all of the 3rd Gen Chevy/Gmc Vans had the washer pump mounted next to the reserve bottle look for a L shaped plug by the reserve bottle...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 1978 GMC Vandura Images11 My answer was "Wrong" it must be the later 3rd gens with that style my 1975 Chevy Vans washer pump is like donivans picture also...I should have looked at mine first. Smile .

    So,,,,,,are the nozzles clogged,,,,,hoses off,,,,,,wires off,,,,,pump bad,,,,,,switch bad?????
The pump is part of the wiper motor,,,,it lives above the gas pedal,,,,,,probably take the drivers seat out to get a good look at it,,,,,,,,pull the hoses off one by one see if water sprays out of the white plastic pump,,,,,,check for voltage at the 2 wires that go to it,,,,,,check if switch is energizing the pump,,,,,,,you could put one of those washer bottles with the motor inside it,,,or a foot pumper   or  an inline washer pump if you think you cant live without window washers,,,,,,

You are welcome to post in the EARLY ENOUGH sections,,,,,,and you are in the camper one right now,,,,,these are places people who are not lucky enough to own a classic Vintage Van can post questions or pictures of something old..........I guess what I am saying is that you might find a few people here that know or care about campers or vans that have a hood,,,,our engines and radiators are inside between the front seats......so these vans are one of a kind,,,,,,,,,not much in common with a van that has a hood,,,,,
