A100 Seat belts question Empty A100 Seat belts question

Post by Guest Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:08 am

My A100 came with same seats as the original A's did (same as in the Dart I think) but no seat belts. My sweetie (who is prego) is afraid to go out of town with me in the van so I have to figure out how to put belts in it. Any suggestions? Pictures?

If I am supposed to ask these kind of questions somewhere else on the site just let me know.

    Thanks,

    Andrew Sparrow

I would go aftermarket... 40 yr old belts will be frayed. I'd go three-point too if you're gonna cruise the highway.

Can you weld? Because if you look at a newer car, they have a heavy bolts welded inside the B pillar and floor for a clean installation. It's kinda scary cutting into pillars and stuff to mount the bolt assemblies, but some have don quite nice jobs to bring these rides some updated safety.

The right side mounts to the fender well and the floor...see bolt holes in the pic

The left side mounts to the floor, fender, and pillar. Sorry the floor mount is fuzzy in the pic, but looks the same as the right one

If you need the length of the belts I can measure them for you and you can probably get new lap belts from simpson, I know my wifes doc gave her a note so she didn't have to wear the shoulder belt, sort of a comfort thing I guess....

Did all A100s have provisions for seat belts?

I guess so... sorry if I misled you.

I have a set of 3-point belts out of my '94 Dodge that I will be putting in my 65 A-van eventually. Some folks use Caravan seat belts.

You can get universal lap belts at your local parts store too if you want to go that route.

Think the belts are out of a late 80's chev suburban.
