    Brake woes Empty Brake woes

Post by dulcimerbob Fri Aug 22, 2014 9:24 am

I have done the following to my brake system.
    New shoes
    new wheel cylinders
    new springs etc
    new master cylinder
    adjusted and bled
The pedal still goes almost to the floor . I have owned drum brake cars before and had decent brakes. What am I doing wrong ?  Question  Question

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder?

from experience!!= 1st= adjust the =REAR shoes till the drum barely contacts the shoes!!- when there is any distance  between the drum & rear shoes -you-WILL!! have this  pedal symptom!! Than bleed  rear pass 1st then rear drivers  then front pass then front drivers last!! cheers

the master cyl. must be bench bled 1st before install.

is the piston push rod adjustable,,,,,,,do you have some free play between the push rod and piston,,,,,, of course that master cylinder could be bad from sitting around for a long time,,,,,do you have the old one to try back on,,,,,,
