    Engine Removal Empty Engine Removal

Post by uante Mon Jul 14, 2014 8:23 pm

During a discussion at work it was brought up about engine removal. Drop them or take them out from the top?
I assume it's from the top. I did a search on here and elsewhere and didn't find a clear answer. Anyone have a link to a tread about a "How To"? I couldn't find anything.

I took out the 240 from the top and out the side doors with the trans still attached. It come very close to the dash but with patience it works. Put the V8 with trans attached, back in the same way.Engine Removal Copy_o13

Thanks for the info and Picture Big W. Didn't even consider going in from the side doors.

With a pickup it is easier to go out the bottom.

I can imagine it's easier out the bottom of a pick up

I did both my swaps out from underneath. Vic OLD SKOOL sent me pics.
    I have a pickup.
Really easy...raise the truck in the front from the front bumper..
lower the engine & trans together on a furniture dolly and slide it out...
I couldn't believe how easy it was the 1st time.

I built an A frame that fits inside the E Van for engine removal. Just hook up a chain fall and lift a little to take the tension off and remove the mounts, then drop it all out the bottom.

I pulled the engine in my pickup out the passenger door. I plan on re-installing from the bottom. I actually built a wooden cart that cradles the engine an inch off the ground and rolls freely. It looks like it should go back in easily from the bottom.
