so, i'm switching out a couple of fixed windows from the doors of my 69, and putting in a couple pop outs. I want to re use the gaskets. so, how do I remove them? I guess I would start by pulling the ruber strip out of the middle. then would I pry the seal in or out? then, how would I install them in the donor van?
I have done the rope installs on vw's but they don't have the middle rubber strip.
    please help.
    thanks.

you pull that locking strip out then push the glass out from the inside,,,gasket stays on van,,,,that gasket could be rock hard,,,pop outs dont use that gasket,,,,pop outs glass is bigger,,,,but if you are putting stationary glass back in,,,,,,,gasket goes on the van,,,,bend the lip to put the glass in,,,you need a tool to zipper the locking strip back in,,,,,,,

The gasket is black but you can get a Chrome or other type of the locking key spline,,,,,,probably from an Auto Glass shop,,,,,,or places that sell windshield gaskets,,,,,,,the fancier Chevy pick ups had a chrome strip in their front windshield gaskets,,,,,here is one brand,, Trim-Lok,,,,,,but they sell in like 100 - 1000 foot rolls.....

I got a guy coming to look at the spare van tomorrow. I have been so busy, and might not have time to switch them out. I only bought the van for pop outs too.

pulled the pop outs out today. they were easy. and the local glass guy has a feeling that my fixed glass rubber is reusable still. if not, he has some replacement stuff for about $15 a window.

made new hinges and welded them on yesterday. they look great. I pulled all four old windows and put the pop outs in today. the old ones came out easy, and the new ones went in pretty easy.
