Here's a subject on which I've never gotten a good handle. I've still not bought one of the classic Chevys I'm considering, but I have other vans that I use regularly. On a van that works for a living but is still kept nice, what do you suggest for a floor covering? I occasionally need to slide long building material along the floor. Painted steel looks awful after a bit. I'm not interested in carpet. The rubber mats I've used have not held up. I will probably insulate the floor with something like Dynamat, and I've thought of putting finished hardwood over that. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What about spray on bed liner. I've heard that stuff is pretty solid, and helps knock down the noise as well.

Marine grade ply is the only thing i would use for a work van, but its not going to look as nice as some of the other options. You could use a nice hard wood such as oak, but it won't stay looking nice if you are dragging building materials over it.... How about aluminium chequer plate....?

I'd sugest the spray on bed liner they use on pickups . I wood think it would act as a noise buffer at the same time.

I used 1/2 or 3/8" thick conveyor belt. ( I have that around here)

It is pretty stiff stuff so it almost lays like plywood, put a strip between the ribs at the seam to support it. Never glued it down then cut some inexpensive indoor outdoor carpet large enough to fold back under the edges. So far so good.

LOL yeah the roll I have came up from Florida but should be available at any small mine or perhaps a recycling plant. I sell off chunks for mud flaps and such once in awhile. I just wanted something that was easily removable in case I ever wanted to change something. Enough used belting 3 ft wide should comparable in price to using 3/4 plywood. Just have a pack of new blades for your utility knife when cutting it.

Here's something I've discovered this morning. Anyone have experience? Looks much better than the rubber mats I've tried in the past.

The conveyor belt looks like a great option.

I have seen samples of the bed rug and it looks like a good product but I do not believe they have anything that fits the early vans correctly.
