    Doghouse questions Empty Doghouse questions

Ok since I am actually working on the 63 falcon again I am going to tear the doghouse off to do the alternator conversion. Since I am removing it and it looks to be a little bit of a pain I figure I will redo it while its off but have a couple questions.

    1. There is some kind of a rubber/foam (glued??) around the outside of it. Is this something that was done? Easiest to way to remove it?

2 Do you guys only wrap the inside sides for Heat and noise or just the lid?

    3. Any other thing I should consider?

If you are going to remove the Dog house, you will need a helper, one to go underneath and hold the shell nuts with a pair of vice grips while the second stays topside and removes the bolts, if you do it by yourself you will most likely spin most of the nuts inside the shell that keeps them in place underneath the floor pan, and then you will have to get your helper to go under the truck with the vice grips and hold the nuts that didn't break free.

With no motor in there it will be easy to hold the bottom with one hand and run the wrench on top with the other.  Replace those nuts while you're at it, 5/16 cage nut.  Do a search on here, they have been posted.  I get in a habit of replacing hardware whenever I can.  I put stainless bolts back in on mine, they come out easy every time.  A little anti-seize helps too.
