Re: Ugly Vans!
My first van was a $50. wreck , Aug. 1970 toad it home. I talked to the guy that was driving it, said he heard a funny noise so he looked back and Boom hit a cement filled steel post. I tied the doors in with a rope for the trip home.

Re: Ugly Vans!
Rip you should post some pics of the 2 Econos you and William pulled out of the JY(Ticks as big as VW'S)
Here's what I stared with on my 64 Chevy ND[img][/img]
Don't look to bad but Major rust out everywhere(floor(front & rear),rockers, gas filler, front wheel arches, rear corners, around windshield and bullet holes(???) in both sides(under primer)11 coats of paint & many bad bondo repair jobs.

Re: Ugly Vans!
Yep.
If you can look at it not just for what it is, but what it can be and see all the potential it has.
Then you will always see things differently than most.

Re: Ugly Vans!
My 63 8 door a few days after I bought it in Ellsworth Maine. It had been stored since 1974 with a bad engine. I saw it sitting on a used car lot with flat tires and a missing back window.
My 63 van in 1976, former Texaco service vehicle at the Port of Providence. Even though I bought them almost 30 years apart I paid the same for each, $500.00
My 61 pickup purchased in Ithaca NY in the late 70's. By far in the worst condition of any other Econoline I have owned
My 62 pickup purchased from T.F. Green Sate Airport in RI in the mid 70's.

Re: Ugly Vans!
Well, if it's ugly, it follows me home!
My 64 Econoline came complete with "custom interior", loveseat bolted to a palatte, tongue-in-groove roof with mouse-turd-laden fibreglass pink, lots of rust! $700 that I wish I negotiated better on.
Then the 68 Fargo A100 complete with custom "Hundred Acre Woods" paint job, looking like a "free candy" van. Was the previous owner's (last name Woods) rock band. Apparently the rear heat was inadequate, so a rad and electric fan is mounted behind the passenger seat! And the swamp grass wrapped around the undercarriage, complete with spiders, came home with it. This one was $50, so I try to think that I invested $750 in two vans rather than admit I got suckered on the Ford.
Hopefully soon, before and after pics of both will grace the forum pages!

67a,
Forget the corvair... What about that A100 stacked behind it?
It looks to be in pretty good condition....

Re: Ugly Vans!
Here's my 1966 van-gina.
I think she's purty and I love her.... the cool van names were already taken....
She followed me home for $800. she used to work at Nashville airport for
Delta airlines.
Now I take good care of her.
She's my daily to commute.
~300cid, rear airbags & shocks, custom belly pan, msd ignition

Re: Ugly Vans!
Wow econorat, that van was in my 'hood' and i did'nt even know it.lol I think it a purdy nice van too.Like the nostolgia look about it.Shows it paid its dues.
John, that Falcon is kind of a rare bird(no pun intended). There was an underdash piece sold for like $350 the other day on ebay.No tellin what side trim goes for.The moss on the front-end reminds me of the carpet covered van that was for sale other day on the board. But still a lot of potential there.

You went to Bud's didn't you. I have several other yards O' Rust in my area. The A-100 behind the vairpickup has an automatic with the shifter on the dash. meanwhile back to ugly:
wooden bumpers
I was driving this home one night/morning when I was wholloped by a drunk. New years day 1974.
this old g20 had V-8 and factory power brakes.

Re: Ugly Vans!
G-man... fortunately that corvair is closer to you than me.. My garage is full already and parts have got to be next to impossible to find for this. The A-van is a tradesman has V-8 and trans, bottom wasn't to bad, no belly pan, and doghouse was in it. Depends on what day you are there on what price you're going to get. After I got a dash plate for the camo van I found one last night on ebay for 1/2 the price I paid there . So I bet the whole van would not be cheap.

Re: Ugly Vans!
gotavan... yeah that's bud's place. A couple of extra bucks was worth the fun that the "kid" had poking around there some days its actually worth it to have kids, and then there are the others.... The one I didn't have time to get into was on Crystal Rd north of m46, Crystal mike's I think. He was closed, but man has he got cars all over the place and part of an e-van nose right by the house. The "kid" was going nuts because he has acouple of el camino's up front by the road. Any idea how to get a hold of them????
