I just got the coolest PM today....

A while back, I sold my 70 no door GMC.... regretted it as soon as it left, and regretted it more when ?I discovered the buyer had flipped it on ebay and it was now in Pennsylvania... It had some frame rust issues and I knew that in the condition it was in it would not pass a PA inspection... it sort of dropped off the radar and I had assumed it had been junked...



Well, it seems the owner had been keeping it in storage and had lost the title. The guy I sold it to had never registered it in hos name. Current owner saw a picture of it on my cardomain page and found me here... sent a PM asking if I could help him get a new title.

I am more than glad to help, I won't lie- I would be happier if he was offering to sell it back to me- but I am happy that it did not get crushed and turned into a Toyota...

This really made my day!

The age of information, gotta love it! A good reason to release liability of a vehicle at the DMV too. I've heard too many stories of people getting letters for unpaid parking tickets because the new owner never registered the vehicle in their name.

In Michigan, the plate does not go with the vehicle- so that is unlikely. Usually what happens is the vehicle will be abandoned and you either get hit with impound fees or sign the vehicle over to the impound yard.

Not good either way. The guy I bought the my van from told me a story about not releasing liabilty and it turns out the vehicle was involved in a hit and run. Cops came knocking on his door   You should keep in touch with the new owner so he can send you progress pics! Closest thing to having it yourself.

I plan to. In fact, I would like to make a visit.....

Hello everyone! I'm the guy! A big shout out to vanner68 for helping me. I'll have to post some pictures of my progress here when I figure out how to get them on this forum. I'm not the most forum savvy person plus I don't spend a ton of time on the computer. Yes, I got the van from a guy in the Poconos back in 2008, I didn't have time to do a restoration at the point, but I couldn't pass on a no-door! I kept it stored indoors and I finally got started on the project this past fall. I did some fabrication to the frame section, body work and primer. I'll try to get something up this weekend

Well, the State of Michigan came through- I got a copy of the title in the mail yesterday and sent it off to the new owner.... Hopefully we'll see some progress pics soon!
