HELP!!! These are not like the ones I've done before. On my firebird a just drove them out with a hammer and punch. That is not working on my 10" drums. Sprayed them down with penetrating oil, but I am afraid that I am going to bend the flange if I hit them any harder.. Maybe bigger hammer is the answer or I'm going to have to take them to the shop and get them pressed out.

Re: Replacing wheel studs
Try grinding the head off and knocking them through from that side. New ones will fit better if you do it this way too (learned this the hard way).

Re: Replacing wheel studs
Thanks for the info RIP... That's why I "walked" away and asked before I had to find more parts. Sometimes brawn is not the answer.

Re: Replacing wheel studs
you have to take a hole saw and fit it over the wheel stud and cut the knurll off the area by the drum. these studs have been pressed in from the back and the front (wheel side) has a lip that has to be cut off first. get a hole saw the size of the wheel stud and just cut into the surface about an 1/8 of an inch. if you do it right the drum will come off and then you can remove the studs. any bigger hammers will ruin the hub the studs are pressed into. yes i'm guilty of doing this to one of mine just because i hate left handed wheel studs. btw the rears are just normally pressed into the axle shaft.

Re: Replacing wheel studs
I replaced my left handed ones with rights last year and had the same problem. I consulted with some others and they all said "bigger hammer". So I got a bigger hammer and hit harder and they came out.

Re: Replacing wheel studs
Well we got them ground off and punched out, but my new one seem to big, so I guess I'm off to napa in the morning with the flange and studs to see what we can make out.

Re: Replacing wheel studs
Thankfully the drums are shot so they are a good learning tool for "the kid" turns out we had to use 11" drum studs because the knurl is just a little smaller. Had to order king pins today while we were at Napa, the r/s one was really bad and since we have it all torn down might as well do it now.
