Floor pan replacement Empty Floor pan replacement

Post by gotdurt Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:37 pm

I've tried searching the board on the topic, but surprisingly haven't turned up much... I'm looking at buying '64 that is in need of a passenger front floor pan... judging from the photos, it's a panel that is spot welded in place. Replacement pans for other vehicles are usually pretty easy to find online, but they seem to be missing for the 61-67 Econo's; I can find them for the Falcon cars and the gen 2 Econolines. Surely someone here has had to replace theirs?

If not, then plan B would be to replace the panel with flat sheet metal; from what I can tell from photos, these pans are pretty flat, with very little, if any, forming. It looks like it would be a matter of drilling the spots, cutting a new pan to match the shape, and re-welding... Is there anything I need to consider that I may not be able to see from the photos?

Unfortunately the front floors panels are not being reproduced yet. That being said...someone in here posted that they were in contact with a company that could do it, but they would be a little high in price. I am not sure how far gone yours is but this is what it should resemble.Floor pan replacement 310

On the top side it's covered by a sheet metal patch:

Here's what it looks like from underneath:

It's the only rust on the van, save for a small spot in a fender. I'm not a talented welder, but I can get the job done. I could remove the existing pan and temporarily replace with flat sheet until I can find a proper replacement, but I would prefer not to do it twice...

My drivers floor sucks too! The only rust issue with mine also. May just use flat sheet and roll a few beads in it

FYI, I just found this thread:

$50-75 is pricy, but worth getting it done right the first time.
