Re: 67 a100 pickup project
One step closer to getting the "old girl" on the road!!!! Found a /6 and trans for 100.00 that has 38,000 miles on it out of a 76 dart.. He took it out so he can drop a 360 in. At least I can have some fun and drive this one to milford, while I try to absorb some of Terry's knowledge and build some horsepower into my 66' /6.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
That Dart trans. won't be a direct swap. I think the car trannys have a much longer tailshaft than the A-vans and you'll end up with a very short driveshaft.
You can make your own mounting bracket or one from a B-van will work well.

Trying not to go the "add a mount " way. Going to call brian again tonight and see if I can get a spacer. Someone has to support the UPS drivers.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
Ah so.
The trans. from the Dart would have been a 904 anyway. A good transmission, but not really for truck use.

Yeap, but might get 150 or 200 out of the trans toward the next van.

Picked up the engine and trans tonight, and even found a welding shop that will fix my spacer so hopefully I can start putting the engine back in this weekend.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
Finally amde some headway on the '68 so I could spend some time stripping the paint off the left side and was suprised to only find one pin hole of rust and five small door dents. Have to get the '67 sanded down so I can see what I need to cut off the campwagon for patch panels and cut the fleet down to 2 instead of 3 A's in the pole barn and drive way.

Picked up the rearched springs this week so it's time to drop the fuel tank, sand blast the bottom side and put the springs in. New pics tomorrow.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
Scored a set of honda accord seats this week for the price of loaning out my engine hoist, compressor, impact, and air rachet so a friend could part the car out. I think I still owe him a couple of more tool loans since I didn't have to pay for the seats.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
Well.... looks like mine was first at the accident at some point in it's life. I spent the day sanding the bondo out of the nose 1/4- 3/8" thick in some spots, even found a hole that they just covered over with mud. No wonder it cracked there. Need to do a lot of hammer and dolly work, but need to get the air box out of my way, any ideas??

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
thats gonna require a lot of metal shrinking and dolly block work but it is repairable. also a stud gun to temporary weld the pins for some slide hammer work.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
moe... I've got 2 spare noses that both have minor issues, all depends on what my brother the body man has to say on whether we fix this one or cut and weld.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
wylee... from what everyone is telling me they are welded in pretty well and welding a patch in is probably what I am going to do. I can reach some of mine to use a hammer and dolly on, just have to perfect swinging the hammer left handed.

Re: 67 a100 pickup project
Got to the right side today. Cut out the patch panel from the previous owner, found some more fiberglass and the michigan "cancer" under the patch panel along with a 5 gallon pail of media sand. They welded the drain holes shut on the right side. Go figure????
Found a nest in behind the panel, thankfully only 2 occupants were home at the time.
