Brake conversion kit for 1968 G20 Handi Bus Empty Brake conversion kit for 1968 G20 Handi Bus

Post by Guest Wed Nov 06, 2013 7:50 am

I am looking to buy a brake conversion kit for disc brakes on my 1968 Handi Bus G20 with 6 lug pattern. I not sure what application will fit the front strait axle setup? What kind of car setup will work on this van?? I get the run around when I ask if kit will fit my application?? I need help!

    Thanks

I have gotten G10 questions answered. Has anyone done a G20 with six lug conversion? If so what did you use? I just want to swap front to disc brakes.

I have a G20 and they have bigger brakes than a G10, mine stops great. I don't have the anwser for you, but what you have if they are working right should be good

So you are running just drum brakes all the way around? Did you change the three piece setup and run just 1 master cylinder and booster?

I know this is an old thread but it is exactly what I am looking to find out. Doesn't look like it was answered.
I have a 67 G20 but needs brakes. Missing the front drums and other parts, the rear is already converted to 5 lug. I would like to convert to disc. I cannot find anybody that can confirm if the brackets made for a G10 will fit a G20 spindle. I know the bearings are different so a different rotor would be needed (probably).
Maybe getting some info on a G10 spindle will help figure this out.

I measured a few of these points on the G20. Maybe someone that has a G10 spindle laying around could check those for me?

the backing plate bolts center to center up & down are 3" and across are 3.5"
what are they on the G10 spindle?
This would be where the brackets bolt on I assume

Unfortunately the G10 uses the smaller A2 & A6 wheel bearings like the Nova, Chevelle, etc. and the G20 uses the larger wheel bearings A3 & A5 like the C10 Pickups. The car rotor used in the kits is an 11" diameter. I can't find a rotor that uses the bigger bearings and an 11" rotor.
I confirmed with M1D that the brackets will fit but there is no known rotor (yet)
