I'm a half hour south of RT. 66 in AZ (Ashfork).
You can set up meets along the way or at least keep contact info in case of a problem.
There is a flatbed Ford in Winslow, and the section from Seligman to Kingman is nice. If you go along that part, you gotta stop in Hackberry.
You can get a passport and have it stamped as you go...

That sounds like a great trip! That's my goal to do something like that. To be honest it's the whole reason I'm building mine.

You'll be coming through my neighborhood right away, maybe 4 hours into your trip, dont stop in east st louis, washington park il, and dont leave your stuff out in plain sight if you go into the arch. Make sure your stuff is hidden and your van is locked, way too many smash and grab thefts lately. Im sending you a pm

Anyone out there know the answer to my latest rattle?

After being on a dirt/gravel section of Route 66 I have acquired a new rattle! Sounds like the rattle is down low on the header side, could my oil pickup rattle if loose? Sounds like maybe my exhaust or header? At speed there is no noise, no rattle. Just when sitting still at idle. Any thoughts?

Otherwise, everything is going well. About 20 miles outside of Oklahoma City, OK.

    Thanks!

Holy Sh*t there are alot of bugs!! Windshield and front is covered already just from this morning!

    I'll post some pics soon!

Which engine do you have, I forgot which,,, Regardless with your having headers, it would all be about how well the installation was done. IE: header and exhaust system supports????? HOPEFULLY, which ever header or engine you have, you used a good header with a minimum of a 3/8" flange????????? The cheaper sets with the thinner flange will work loose and the gaskets will leak.
If you have an automatic, the torque converter will still be trying to engage at idle and cause a small vibration that will cause noises to appear also. ANYTHING loose will show up that way even if not a major problem. Suggest you have some one sit on the brakes and with the E brake on,,, take a good look around with a flash light and a broom handle to youre ear and try to isolate the noise. More than likely the first culprit is the exhaust system.
If supported correctly,, it will be hung with rubber straps that keep it in place, but will also allow for the engine torquing over when in gear. It has to be able to move without letting things come loose at the same time.

It could be something as simple as a loose exhaust hanger

Well... it was an o2 sensor plug that was coming loose and finally on a rough section came out. Thankfully Randall and Craig at Automotive Excellence had a new plug and a heat sock to put on my hand and arm to keep me from burning my arm!! These guys were in Weatherford Oklahoma and absolutely the nicest Okies we've meet!! We took pics with them and they also gave us kick ass shirts!!
