Post some pictures. Some of us can tell the engine by looking at it.

If you can find the casting number on the block, here is a page to help you decode it.

Did you buy the red Spring Special that was on Ebay and Craigslist? I saw it at Long Beach swap meet last weekend.

Yes its the red one/Spring Special. I thought it was pretty good find and surprised nobody else jumped on it. Very much like the drive train installation by Blue Oval Engineering. Some of the wiring is kinda cluegy but its so easy to work on. Carb needs a little help, maybe a new one. Very happy with this, perfect for my retirement project.

B6 would be 1956. Are you sure the first digit is a B?

Not looking at the right place for the number also maybe I should wire brush the numbers and dobble a little white paint on them, although it is pretty clean under there.
Wish I could get a number for Blue Oval as the door sticker has his engine number on it. 1004

Not knocking the quality of the truck, as it looked to be in good condition with some good equipment, but that truck is not a 65 and it is not a spring special.

someone has mistakenly titled the truck as a 65 (easy to do as vehicles fall out of CA dmv system in 7 years if not registered. This one obviously fell out, and when the new owner went to register it they claimed it was a 65 and the DMV does not check) as the vin number on it clearly revealed it was a 61. There were other clues too, the 61-64 style heater, no 65-67 heater controls on dash. Also spring specials were all 5 windows.

Yes I know all these things and have no problem with it. The owner was very up front with it all.

I do believe my Econoline pick up is a 1961 which should be a very early edition. Yes the seller was very upfront about that. Maybe the first year Econoline.
    Thanks,

Looked at it and have had nothing to say other than a nice job from what I can see. The steering column dash bracket gave it away from the very first look. Under neath would certainly tell more. More than likely I would bet with that mill it has also had the full cross member put in.
I just sold my cross flow and the cylinder head is identical, and for sure that is a 200 or a 250, the 250 easier to put that head onto. It is FAMOUS for a real breather as in one side and out the other like it should be. The Aussies took ours and MADE IT RUN.... VERY NICE TRUCK,,,,

Wow FI and all. Mine looks a lot like the one on the wooden blocks only using a two barrel Holly. Yes it has the full cross member mounting, a header like the last picture only ceramic coated..
At the moment I am just cleaning it up tiding up the wiring then getting it registered.
The dizzy is a tight fit under the intake manifold, need to get in there and assure myself everything is Jake and perhaps put a Petronix while I am there. Sure don't want to remove the intake for this and I do think I can get the cap off as it sits.
I have both seats out, much easier to work on or in the dog house.
    Thanks for everything,
    Richard

Eugene Phillips ( Original Blue Oval ) would put the 65 Deluxe 3 piece trim on a lot of His Econolines.

Got it registered and am fooling around with tiding up the wiring here and there.
