I couldn't take it any longer, my previous house had a big shop in the back and my current home doesn't. I've got lots of toys and nowhere to work on them.Dawgboy wrote:Sorry for the hijack... I don't have a dedicated shop either so looking forward to your construction.

Re: It's Finally Time
Got the shop slab poured yesterday, its cool and cloudy here now with high humidity, the guys were at the house until about 10:30pm still rubbing the slab down by hand. It wouldn't dry enough to get the machine on it, it finally started raining so they covered it with plastic and left it, looks good this morning.
Couldn't get enough concrete for the patio so we are pouring it Friday morning.
Muds here, took 3 trucks to get it all in.

Re: It's Finally Time
patio is in.
I wrapped the temporary 2x4 deck legs with plastic. I'll cut them off one at a time, pull out the stub, fill in the small hole with concrete and then put the 6x6 deck leg back in place to cover it. Only way I could pull it off without levitating the deck into the air.
My framer backed out of the job, looking for a new one now.

Re: It's Finally Time
Now you'll have a nice patio to enjoy a couple of brews after working on the van! Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Congrats!

thats what Im thinking
That room is something like 12' wide by 8' tall and runs the length of the building, 36' long. That double window is framed out for a double door, eventually I'm going to bridge the deck over to it so you can walk right in from the deck.

Re: It's Finally Time
Buddy of mine has a steel building "garage" that's something like 30wide x 40long and two stories tall. The upper floor is built out for living space, really nice, heated floor, granite counters etc. and he and his old lady live up there. The lower floor is a 3+ bay finished/heated/cooled garage with a kitchen and bathroom. He runs a Harley shop down there and we have some pretty good get together's

Re: It's Finally Time
wheee!
driveway is poured!
the parking pad on the backfill has a rebar mat in it, the whole thing is 4000psi concrete as well.
painter is coming to caulk/paint and put down an epoxy floor soon, I'm probably going to go ahead and drywall the inside as well.

Re: It's Finally Time
Got the final inspection this past week!
I'm not completely finished but I have The Man™ out of my hair now. Still need to insulate, drywall and put a finish on the floor but that's all minor stuff. The never ending garage project is almost over.
Some pictures!
down the side:
On the other side:
Living in the mountains has its drawbacks, looking at those concrete walls still hurts my wallet.
Grillin and Chillin area:
couple of shots of the back acre, I really like North GA., if you havens been here its worth a visit.
U freakin wot mate?

Re: It's Finally Time
Cool workshop and backyard, all that concrete must have been a second mortgage.
