Re: dog house exhaust fan
thanks donivan,
i have seen your setup. i was thinking of more of an exhaust . i put some aluminum over my electric fan so i need to do it in the back. https://i.servimg.com/u/f34/17/54/82/24/photo_20.jpg

Re: dog house exhaust fan
I haven't done it yet but Ive thought about trying a marine "in line" bilge fan to vent the doghouse. Mount it under the back of the van and run metal dryer vent underneath and into the dog house. Id make sure it is "explosion proof" though, if the air/fuel gets right in there it could !KB on you.

Bilge fans are explosion proof, they are made to do exactly what you are wanting.

Re: dog house exhaust fan
So that's what Kind of fan it is.
Cool I'm going to get two 3" inline fan.
If it is 3" I can use the Spectra flex tube

When I was running the two speed Taurus fan in my v8 pick-up I hooked the low speed up to a timer like don did on his. Never had a start up problem after that. Mick

Re: dog house exhaust fan
If you want to get fancy. Many cars, especial VW in the 90's had an air temp sensor bolted to a valve cover screw and placed near the intake manifold. Connected through a relay it would make the fan run after the engine had been shut down until the air temp around the manifold and injectors had dropped.
that would be easy to add to the van and place the sensor near the carb.

This is true but Ive seen complaints (on Amazon) on some of the cheaper ones of "visible sparks" around the motor when its running so Id make sure I got a solid brand name.

Re: dog house exhaust fan
in fact i did. i got a 3" inline fan from the local boat supply house. installed it in the dog house(as an exhaust fan to pull out air) ran spectra flex tubing down and out the DH. put it on a dial timer with a 5amp fuse. turned it on to test it ran good. drove for 30min parked for 20min. i didn't have a fuse to put in it so i didn't turn it on. got in the van opened the DH to put the fuse in and guess what. the plastic housing had malted. so i got another fan. this time t put in under the van and ran 3'' aluminum tubing in to the DH. worked ok, but i wasn't impressed. so i flipped the fan to blow air in. it worked much better. still in beta testing hahaha. ill take pic's this week and post them.

This thing moves about 250 cfm. My "plan" is to put this inline with an air ram placed under the truck. I'm going to run one 4'' hose to the top of the doghouse and two 4" tubes out the back and use marine thru vents. That thing is a high pressure pocket, the cold air just skips below it.
