Got into wiring today and it's all cracked and cut up . I seen a couple of wiring harness kits with a 12-18 circut set up, will that work? It was called ez wiring. Then i could run an alternator and have bright lights and turn signals..let alone get it running! Comments ?Concerns? What kind of alternator and brackets?170 CI 6 Thanks Ken

Re: New wiring Harness
I use and suggest the Ford 3G alternator, however for any high amp alternator over 70 amps you will need a double pulley. Its a known fact that a single belt will only support an 80amp alternator at its most!!! The 3G is a bolt in and has a built in regulator so you can trash the stock one and be rid of it.. The 3G puts out 90amps at idle and a max of either 135 or 10 depending on which one you use. Suggest NOT to go single wire as our wiring is setup correctly to get the correct AMP load from the dash board. The tie in at the starter solinoid,, all you have to do is copy the wiring colors and dump the stock POS regulator in our trucks.

Re: New wiring Harness
Sorry,,, that should have read 135 or 150 amps,,, also,, if you are upgrading this one will more than handle any fans or amps that you may add later on.. if you have to do it,, why not do it big and be done with it,,,
