Looking for comments and personal experiences from anyone who has done this. I have a 66 A100 panel van, which the previous owner had mini tubed and performed a leaf spring re-location ( running along the frame rails ) . He ran it with a 440 and a 7 1/4 rear end to allow for big tires. When I purchased it had been returned to a stock configuration. I would like to once again re-locate the leaf springs to allow for bigger tires. My concern is vehicle stability with the springs in so tight. I could see this on a pickup, but was concerned with it done on a van. Not looking to run slaloms, but don't want a ton of body roll either. The move puts the springs inboard by 6 inches on each side.

relocatation
The stability would be made up with tire width. Also the tires are still in stock location relative to the axis and center of gravity.

Re: Leaf spring re-location
Yeah, I don't see an issue with it, but if your real world testing shows an issue, you can always add a rear anti-roll bar.

Re: Leaf spring re-location
Moving the springs in does change the amount of body roll. Back in the day i had a ChevyII that i did that to. It's not real bad but it's a change. But i would think any type of sway bar would be a big help.

Ive done suspension work on a few with that kinda mods and a good sway bar took care of the problem
