Leaf spring removal Empty Leaf spring removal

Post by Keith D Sun Nov 26, 2017 6:00 pm

I have searched all over the forum and I can't find a posting on how to do this.

I need to change out the front and rear leaf spring bushings, I would like to paint the leafs and put in new u bolt nuts. I figure the easiest way to do this is to remove the leaf springs (one at a time). I don't have a lift just a jack and jack stands.

What is the best way to go about removing a leaf spring on one side?

    Thanks... Keith

you need to lower the axle,,,,,so put the body up on jack stands as far as you can,,,,,loosen up the bolts,,,,,,take off the tire,,,,,,lower the axle watching the brake hose,,,,,,might have to remove the shock to let axle go lower to take the pressure off the spring,,,,,
