Re: Good by shorty
Call your lawyer, cus that sounds like BS to me. How the hell can they no it's stolen without numbers on a vin tag that isn't there. Unless they have a serial number from somewhere else on that van. Did they find a serial number??? or are they going by some dumb ass discription " old van, with rust on it and faded paint". Man I would not take this sitting down.

All Ican do is sit and wait.W you know how the RCMP work the sort of do as they please as for MPI good luck on anything.Have to wait and see She was not rusty with faded paint all body repairs done in hibuild got it for 500. but I have to wait If there was a motor in her I would have a vin # from the block.

If the block was stolen does not mean the entire van was..

Lots of people replace engines. The causality behind "theres no vin so its stolen" is obtuse at best. My guess is they felt it necessary to investigate the suspicion as to WHY it does not have a vin tag attached and therefore were obligated to provide a somewhat feasible reason for their capture / investigation, albeit not a very concise explanation. Hope you get her back soon amigo!

Re: Good by shorty
you shouldnt have bought it without a clear title , next time ask for a picture of the vin, title and check to see if theres any leans or any problems before you hand over any money,

Motor numbers have not been used for ID on titles in decades.

She was purchased on the garage keepers act having a hell of a time on that getting treated like I stole her.The shop it was bought from is tring to tell them what is what all they did was a lot of work they never got paid for and the person that the work was being done for is nowhere to be found.I want her back so badWill hopefully know something next week. This little van means so much to me and my wife it is a little step back in time.

Re: Good by shorty
I understand my friend. Sometimes its the most innocent situations where NOTHING could possibly be wrong where you just walk into a flying $hit$torm from hell. You cant always win, but heres hoping the Popo will see that you are not the culprit. Im VERY pleased to hear the "upstanding shop" you mentioned is doing exactly that and holding true to their "upstanding" reputation by offering you a refund. There IS a bit of solace knowing that you can at minimum trust them!

Re: Good by shorty
sure you can using a reconstructed title, Yeah I know canada is differnt. But it's not their merry-go -round either. some cop being a dick. Was it ever painted.??? if so the plate may have been removed at that time,,, also the shop got it from a unpaid bill But did that owner steal it. or did that shop report the vin plate missing years ago.????

Re: Good by shorty
A buddy of mine got into just about the same situation here in Georgia. He had bought a 1978 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 & got pulled over by the county police for a traffic violation. The truck was already registered in his name with the DMV & the county police noticed that there were two different VIN number's on the truck. The Vin that was on the title was on the dash & the other one was on a door that had been installed because of a previous accident that the truck had been in. Almost all of the county's in Georgia are confiscate crazy so they confiscated the truck & said that it had to of been stolen to have various VIN number's on it. My buddy couldn't afford a lawyer so he lost it!
