Thats a tuff question, did he make you a offer ??? The value to some one that needs one is higher than some one that is willing to install one. So my guess is you don't want to install it in your van??. No matter what the market is small. It sounds like you have a never installed one?? any number I would put out there would only be a guess. so my guess is $500.00 to 1k on e-bay but again if some one needs one it could bring twice that. in a bidding war.

Ok - heres what i think=HAHA = as i have all 3 known made types of these tops. Ill ask these questions= shape & condition of top=is the plywwd under the alunimum skin in excellent shape? doesnt need any repairs or rotten from water in places? Nothing loose on skins ? inside & out? Any damage to the hinge points ? Raises & lowers easily/ doesnt bind up?
Is the mfg data plate still riveted on? Is the top still having the seal areas in excellent shape? Has the alunimum been painted or even ever polished/ or is is just dull in appearances? All of these conditions effect the value of the tops. In total rebuilt shape & beautiful shiny new appearance= value $1000.00 + shipping! usually these tops in regular removed condition arent worth much at all - if in regular used condition- maybe $250.00 I will add the tops used on the dodges were also as pictured above -the 1/2 top versions- values decreased with those types also. The full top versions you can actually drive down the road without great wind resistance & bad fuel mileage. Yet still not adviseable. Should anyone want a top rebuilt=i will do these also - when im done the tops will be as shiny as a new aircraft skin too!! total costs to rebuild are variable as to what needs to be done = ?? new glass , window screens?, sliders , hinges , ect.

'64 Campwagon Pop Top Value? Empty More info on the pop top...

Post by coprinoid Mon May 27, 2013 1:04 pm

Ok, I will check all of these things out, and post more soon...thanks everyone.
The top is dull, not shiny. was tarped, but outside. Plywood, or particle board needs replacing, but looks as if it could be done fairly easily, paying attention to seals...it would appear to run 3/4's length of the van...and the van roof is intact, the pop top is strapped to it, presently.

All plexiglass side windows are in good working order, and the top does raise fairly smoothly, no major catches.

Will post pictures once the weather subsides...

I have an early TEC top (serial #542) and I rebuilt it completely including stainless everything and solid aluminum sides as well as plastic lumber to replace the rotten wood.

I paid $35 (got the guy down from $50) and spent $350 restoring it. This was in the early '90s, though.

I would ask what the buyer is offering. Having a buyer at all is the big thing.

Sorry, took a while to really find the time...I grabbed some metal polish and a buffer, and it shines up very nice...but that is since the pictures were taken. I talked to the interested party, he offered $100.00, and I am already going to travel in his direction, for another event. Here's what I have got, I have not been able to locate any information plate or serial number...:
