Tach or Speedo? Empty Tach or Speedo?

Post by LVMtnMan Sun May 26, 2013 12:59 pm

I'm replacing all of the gauges and I want to keep the 'factory' look. My question to you Vannerites is should I replace the speedo with a tach? I think it'll look cool having a tach in the middle. I can eyeball my speed by other cars and at the end of the day I can't go over 70 in this thing anyways so why need a speedo? What are your thoughts?

P.S. I'm completely rebuilding the wiring harness and i'm dropping in a DUI distributor.

I would have a speedo for only one reason, down the road and I hope way down the road when you sell it someone will want one. Plus so many other places for a tach

I'd agree with Chris on this one, or install a tack at a differnt location.

It might be illegal to remove the odometer. You can swap it out and document the change in numbers, but you might not be able to run without one.

Same might be true of the speedometer. Check your state motor vehicle laws.

I mounted my tach with one of the defroster vent screws. The cable snuck down through the defroster vent opening.
