Is anyone here running vintage license plates on their ride? I just bought a original 1969 Ga license plate to run on my 69 Chevy 90 van. I talked to the DMV & they told me when I got ready to swap over to it all I have to do is bring it up to the tag office along with my current tag & they will swap them over for free.

Re: Vintage license plates
in va, when i put my '66 club wagon on the road in 2006 i took my 1966 plates to the dmv and it was a one time $54.00 fee. i don't know if it
is still the same or not. the year after i put it on the road, va cracked down on people running vintage plates. you had to provide proof that you had other transportation for day to day driving. you are limted to how much you can drive it.

Re: Vintage license plates
That's pretty cool to just have to pay a one time fee! I think that Georgia still charges a tag & yearly tax fee on them.

Re: Vintage license plates
That's why I put regular tags on my Falcon. I don't want to deal with the BS.

Did the same thing with mine here in Alabama. Cost 25 Dollars one time fee. You have to use the same year tag as your van or car. Also did it on our 66 GTO.

Re: Vintage license plates
here in Finland it cost 1000Euros (1240dollars),one time fee
to get a customized license, and i has to have both letters and numbers, and i that order.we only have one type of license plate,it doesnt change like yours by state.
and if you want to move on to another vehicle you have to pay the fee again..

Re: Vintage license plates
In North Carolina you can use a vintage plate and keep your real plate inside the van ready to show if you get pulled over.
