i have a 65 econoline with a 240 and 3 on the tree. the shift linkage likes to hang up and stay stuck in gear. the only resolve is to reach thru the grill and align the shifter arms. any advice on what i should replace or similar problems solved by other guys i am all ears. thank you

I would check for adjustments on the shifting rods and if they can't be adjusted replace them. You will probably have to make the new one's or find someone that can.

Mine used to do that until I got new "spring washers"(2) -at the top and bottom of the shift levers.

There are bushings/washers where the shift rods hook to the steering column, the place where you said you reach in behind the grill...and also at the transmission end of the shift rod...either or both will screw it up...also there is an alignment hole at the bottom of the shift column where the proper adjustment is made when it is nuetral

    well here..just read this thread..
