    what is a good set for a 1th gen van and what they cost ? they hard to install ?

    For the most part many are easy to install, just have your muffler shop connect them to the pipes. Heres another thread with some info about it.

    the getting burned by the pipes i don,t worry about there going on my 66 no-door so all kidding aside who is the best for the buck and fit a 1th gen van.i got a set of hugger header for the 283 small block will they work or need stock ones?

    I have a 1969 Chevy G-10 108 with 72 inch sidepipes and, I'm running the old stock ramhorn-style exhaust manifolds. You would probably find using a shorty header would be easiest to connect to sidepeipes. I DO get real nice performance from the ramhorns, tho! good Luck!

    Are those the ones that end up closer to the engine, or do they collect down behind the engine?

    If youre thinking of the standard "block hugger" headers, they arch outward away from the block just a little more than stock and then swing right back in toward the block only to end abruptly. They also seem to be approximately the same length as factory center dump ram horn style exhaust manifolds, ending close to the top of the oil pan area.

    another Question you just hard pipe the side piped to the headers? no mulffers ?
