307/PG- fuel mileage? Empty 307/PG- fuel mileage?

    Hi all-

I am considering buying a '68 with a 307 and Powerglide automatic. What kind of fuel mileage do these get? Also- what is a top cruising speed? I am new at this.

    Thanks!

Hey Ben, welcome to VV. Your mpg will depend on a lot of things but generally speaking a well tuned, clean carb, good ignition will net you anywhere from 10-14 mpg.Currently my van has a 350 w 200-4R, new HEI, rebuilt Qjet carb, Sanderson Headers and 3:36 posi rear and I am anywhere from 10.5-14.75 mpg depending on city or freeway use. Remember these vans are like pushing a wind sail or has a lot of the guys here refer to them as "flying bricks". Good luck and enjoy the ride. bounce bounce bounce
