When I moved here from TX in 2000 I brought a 1999 Kawasaki Nomad with me.  I went to register it in CA.

Long story, short version...after getting jacked around for 8 hours by some fat, lazy DMV bitch I started telling her how I felt [and getting applause from other patrons].  The next thing I know two police officers [not sure which branch, Sheriff/Highway Patrol] were physically escorting me out of the building telling me to come back when I had calmed down.  They also informed me that if I acted this way again they would arrest me.  When I tried to explain what had happened they asked if I wanted to experience the arresting part right then.

I joined AAA and have never returned to the DMV again.  I let AAA handle the bastards.

Yeah the DMV is AWESOME!!. I had to go back to the DMV I'm going to say 6 times and jump through 14 hoops to get my van registered in CA. Weird thing is that they wanted me to pay a different fee every time I went...HHHMMM, sounds like a scam to me...... Thank you Mr. Brown! Maybe the State Government should stop wasting tax payers $$ on voting on whether or not trans gender freaks have the right to pick what bathroom they can use, and spend a little time straightening out DMV!!

ya u guys are correct!! DMV=bad experiences- have u ever seen any =ANY government worker with any common sence or a small butt in a chair???

They have since changed their story

"Only the plate or plates that reach 7,500 orders before January 1, 2015 will be implemented."

That's lame and it looks doubtful that the 50's/70's are gonna make it! However, the good news for us 60's guys is that they have officially met the quota and are at 7549!

Well, with thirty minutes left until January 1, 2015, it looks like the black plates going to be made.

13,047 ordered as of now.

So… anyone know when are they going to start issueing the black plates? Or di we all get taken?

From the Legacy License web page...Q2: When should I expect to receive the 1960’s plates I have pre-ordered?
A: Expect issuance in the late spring through summer 2015. Allow additional time for personalized plates.

They are officially orderable now on the DMV website, so, pix may not be needed.

Those look very close to the originals, is the paint/characters reflective or just flat?

I was not geven the chance to choose the plates, they just came in the mail. I think if you wanted special plates, you had to request them ahead of time.

These plates adhere to the latest standards, so yes the lettering is reflective.

They are also fully customizable like all other plates, online!

And oddly enough, the sequential and personalized plates cost the same to purchase and renew!

I got the following notice last week. Pretty stoked that I got the personalized plates I requested. Well, at least I will be getting the one's I requested...
