patch the rot in the floor then por-15 the hell out of it..........

well, got some more done today....patched the rot in the cargo floor....removed gas pedal and gas pedal mechanism.....broke a bolt rushing the job.....
have to study the floor where the gas pedal goes some more to come up with the best way to repair it.

Awesome work! Keep it up and it wont be long before another van is out on the road.

roughed the gas pedal opening in, used the leased amount of amps on my welder...next, sand it as smooth as possible then hit it again with the welder, this time increasing the amps and wire speed.Basically, I'm just making new, strong metal......

Coupe, sounds like stepping back a bit helped you to think up what looks to be a good solution. Way to go, Amigo!

thanks vanny.....to cut it out and fabricate the dips and curves would have been a challenge.It would have to be right on the money or the gas pedal would bind.I wasn't up to that much of a challenge. I took the easier, softer way....

got her all welded up.....turned out pretty good, nice and solid.....installed the gas pedal then ground down the bolt and welded it,that's the only way I could make sure the bolt would line up with the hole again.
Also found some more floor issues in front of the drivers seat. That's my next job, fixing more floor rot.......

I like that fix for the missing rubber on the gas pedal. Once it's on there, it's gonna look like it was designed that way. Good work Coupe! Lots of work for you but your doing great by just keeping at it...The list will eventually get shorter and shorter.

Great gas pedal fix. I have the same problem with the floor as you did. Unfortunately most of us do because of water getting under the factory rubber mat. Will be doing same fix this summer. Great work so far...keep at it

got the floor cut out, now just have to grind the spot weld off where it's welded to the top of the frame rails.......you can see where I cut into the rail with a "chop saw", I'll just weld it up.......

got the rotten floor section removed, fabbed a new section,next step weld her in.............

well got the floor welded up and found some more rot in the base of the wheel well......

got some more repairs done......

well back on it, get her almost ready for the poison, epoxy primer.(inside)

Alright Coupe, hadn't seen anything from you in a while, nice to see you at it again. You are taking on a challenge a lot of guys wouldn't have. It's really beginning to show a LOT of progress. Is the epoxy primer to prevent future rust?

Yes ,epoxy is to seal the metal so hopefully no more rust.
I've been obsessed on my '48 f-1 , got her on the road, working the bugs out. She's "fast and loud"

That's great, wouldn't mind seeing a pic or two of that also. That's a nice pair of classics!!! There were a few "tease" shots of the f-1 through your windshield. I thought I remebered noticing it before so I went back through some of the earlier posts and saw them. She's a beauty!

I'm worried that posting the f-1 pics would be inappropriate on a vintage van forum.....I will pm you or whoever want's to see my f-1 pics. Just let me know.I'll start with you vanny.
