I need to get air into my carb. I have a 200" out of a Mustang, with the stock aircleaner. The intake bumps right up to the side of the doghouse, so I don't think it's getting much air as it is, but I want to improve it anyway. My thought is to cut the aircleaner intake tube about halfway and attach a flexible hose to it and route it over the radiator and down under the front of the doghouse. Then get some kind of wider scoop to gather more air and funnel it into the intake. The diameter is about 2", depending on where I cut it. Most of the hose I've found is 3", but I found one coupler that'll reduce it to 2 1/2. Not quite good enough. Any ideas? Alternate suggestions welcome.

Have you thought about going with an open style breather?

Re: Aircleaner - need more air
I am finishing up a whacky cold air system on my econo pickup. I had a simple open filter but I really didnt like it pulling all of that hot doghouse air and the best bet is to somehow grab some outside cooler air. So I enclosed the filter and am running a snorkel tube to the back of the doghouse and out the back wall of the cab. Sounds silly and hard to put into words so I will post a picture when I get it done.

I looked at the photo Dix but I don't want to do anything quite that severe. Thanks anyway.
