Re: neutral switch?/ Question
A manual trans does not have a neutral start switch,,,,they did put them on the clutch pedal like around the 1980's,,,,,,the automatics have them mounted on the bellhousing with a rod connecting it to the lever coming out of the transmission,,,,,probably in 1966, that switch also contained Back up light contacts in it,,,,,,

Re: neutral switch?/ Question
After the juice has to go from the starter solenoid,,,,through the wiring,,,,through the ignition switch,,,back through the wiring to the solenoid, there ain't much left to energize the starter, especially if the engine is hot. so I add a Ford relay nearby, so that the ignition switch just energizes the Ford Relay and it does all the heavy lifting,,,,,,

Re: neutral switch?/ Question
There should not be any fusible links on a 66,,,,,,but #1 suspect in my book is the connector in the doghouse right next to the carburetor above the alternator,,,,wiggle that,,,,,,,
