Pretty strong statement and for the most part the first I've heard of that as far as Econoline stuff. Can you give examples of what you are talking about? The mats DO fit.

Re: Econoline floor mats
Macs has discontinued the floor mat 8913010-A Check with Dennis Carpenter
C1UZ-8913010 Econoline 61-67 Floor mat $100.00 I purchase one and had no
problem wih it. I belive what I heard was that the mold they are using is
breaking down on the detail of the lines on the mat. I guess the cost factor
is to costley to redue. And Macs was getting too many complaints because of
this? So they discontinued this item.I belive Macs was getting their matts
from dennis carpenter.Again this is what I heard from others and again I
am happy with my mat and glad there still avilable.

As far as I know the king pins fit but the locking grooves are cut too deep. Does Mac's actually make those or are they just a particular brand they sell? Most vendors arent even aware the grooves are cut too deep.
I have no experience with the tie rods from them.
The window seals Mac's sells are the same as any other vendor, period. They all come from Carpenter's except the new ones that I just had made up,some of which still arent available. The majority of Carpenter's seals fit correctly. Only 2 don't which would be the vent window and front door seals. You can't blame Mac's for that. Until recently it's all that was available.
Mac's does have a lot of good products so I wouldn't be too hard on them over a couple items. I'm glad to have any resource for parts we can get. I would hope if something was their screwup that they would pay return shipping. Is that not the case?

Re: Econoline floor mats
neondv8,
I'm with you on the part of having to pay return shipping for an item that a vendor sells knowing that there is a problem with that product not fitting or functioning properly & they continue to sell it! I believe if they continue to sell an item that they are aware of defects customers should alert other potential customers of that bad product they are selling. It is just not good business to sell someone something knowing that something is wrong with it or it will not fit correctly. I bought some front brake drums for my 69 Gmc van last week & one parts store told me that if they did not fit that I would have to pay to ship them back to their distributer in order to get a refund. I took my business elsewhere! I don't believe that if they sell us something that is the wrong part or has defects in it that we should have to pay for their mistake!

Pretty weak response to your original strong statement. I'm just trying to get the facts so we all know the whole story. So far you have ignored what I said. You haven't supplied a brand name for the King Pins you supposedly purchased or answered my question about return shipping charges.
Nothing wrong with letting people know about a bad vendor if thats actually the case. We all appreciate that. I'm not so sure one or 2 bad products that they don't even make would classify them as a bad vendor.
Would you hold Walmart responsible for a bad GE television? Granted if faulty a return should be made without cost to you. King pins are made by several vendors and to my knowledge there have been pins at one time or another that have all have incorrect locking groove depths. You can't tell by looking at them. They need to be measured for accuracy. Again its a case of where else are you gonna get em unless you find NOS? You can flip the pin over and have a shop cut the correct depth groove in them if need be. I know, nothing beats the right part, the first time.
I'm nobody's poster boy. I tell it like it is regardless of popular opinion. We all need to be informed CORRECTLY. Let's not ruin a vendors name over 2 products. Look thru their catalogue at all the products they offer that are good. Many of us have used them and are grateful they make parts for our rigs. How many other companies do you see doing it? Let's just give a fair shake where it's due.
If you're gonna sling mud, just provide the facts please.

Just wanted to mention I have had a few of these floor mats from Mac's and mine were fine. I have heard rumor of what you speak of though. It's been at least 5 years since I got a mat so things may have changed. I dont know if Carpenter's supplied Mac's the mats or not. They definitely do supply the bad seals which Carpenter's is fully aware of and refused to correct which is why I went to the trouble of having them made myself.

I wanted to send an update on this... I recently ordered a mat from Carpenter and they cancelled the order within a couple of days. They stated that they are out of stock and do not know when they will have more. Short of eBay I don't think they are available any more.

NEON you are out of line twice.
Firstly, Tim is one of a handful of guys on this site that will try to get you that rare part.
Secondly, I don't know of another parts company that even gives a damn about our Econoline needs besides Mac's or Carpenters.
Just out of line man.

Re: Econoline floor mats
Another update: I checked with Concours who have them listed in their catalog but they too are out with no prediction on supply. C&G was the only other place I could think of but they don't even have them listed. The best hope is that perhaps they only make these in certain production runs and another run is coming soon. Anyway, might be time to look at alternatives such as Floor Mats.

I've been "mislead"(to be nice about it) so many times on the seals it pretty much disgusts me. There's always a new creative excuse why they aren't done. The latest as of a week ago is that they would be shipped out to me the next day and so far I have nothing. What I have here now is only the front door seals and 2 of the 3 piece poput window sets. No news on cargo door seals at all or the vent winodw either. It's been 2 and a half years now which is ridiculous. I've been made to look like an idiot basically with the multiple missed deadlines. All I can do is continue to hope they get their shit together some day and get the rest done. I can't imagine why they have procrastinated for so long. You'd think they would want to make some money but who knows. At thispoint I'll be happy just to get the pop out set finished. I have no idea when if ever they will even get around to attempting to make the rest of the seals we originally discussed. I ve wasted countless hours of my time trying to get this done so it's pretty discouraging for me. I'm basically at the mercy of the company who doesnt seem to care when they get them finished after all this time. WIsh I had better news. I think they will get the seals to me eventually(pop outs and front doors) but who knows if they will ever make progress on any other. AT the rate they are going I may be dead and gone before I ever get them to make all the seals on the whole vehicle.

Re: Econoline floor mats
I'm almost inclined to think that looking for NOS or reproduction after market stuff may be a big time waister but if found that would be the Best way for originallity. May I suggest to some of the more knowledgable folks in here to start a list (junk yard list) As to what seals you may find out there that could or would most likely fit our vans. year and makes so that we have something to fall back on when original is no longer around. I know the chevy guys have the dodge carivan window seals and they fit great if i'm not mistaken, as well as pop out window frames off of something newer with some modification fit really well. I know for fords we can use the 67 wiper motor with a 85 ford pulse switch and black box to give us this option if we want it. Even if we start a post that we can all add to as we find little things for our vans. Floor mats, Window felts, hinge pins, miror heads, visors, side and rear door seals. Post pics of original and new stuff to compare. just my 2 cents. I know this would be helpfull for me and if I find something I will post it.
