    Transmission Mounting Empty Transmission Mounting

Hey yall, just put a new clutch kit in on my 66 and I'm having some problems putting the transmission back in.
It keeps getting stuck where the trans mounts to the body. I can't slide it in enough to wedge it up into it's mounting bracket, so I was thinking that loosing the engine mounts and jacking up the engine from the front would tilt it back enough to let it slide in enough to slip into it's bracket.

Is this a sound plan, or is their something else I could try?

Measure the width of the bracket and mount. They often get smooshed a bit and are too tight.
Motor mounts and jacking the engine shouldn't be needed. That would tilt the back of the trans down anyway.
(Lightbulb) Ahh, is that the problem?
If it is a matter of the trans is not connected to the engine yet and you don't have room to slide the trans in without hitting the body/frame/mount, see if you can get a friend to step on the back of the engine and push it down. Without a friend, you can try racheting straps to move things around so the trans can be installed, then rotated up to mount.
