For those with 200 motors Empty For those with 200 motors

Can someone measure the dipstick from the cap to the tip for me and the legnth of the tube? I have a new dipstick for a 200 but it's too long so I suspect either the tube in the block is too short or this really isn't a 200 dipstick that I just got.

    Thanks.

    Stu,
There are two different dipsticks. Some of the later 200's had a different oil pan with the sump in the rear, dipstick location is also in the rear. These won't clear the crosmember in a 65-67

    Hey Fred,

Mine is a 1977 motor so mine is in the rear. I just put a new oil pan on and had to unbolt the crossmember but it fit fine. Do you have the length of the later dipsticks?

    Stu,
I don't have the length of the later ones but yours will be the same length as the 144, 170 that originally came in the van, same as Mustangs, Comets, Mavericks and Falcons. If you still need one I have a few early ones. I think the change was made around 1979/80 on the strut front suspension Fairmonts. Fred
